Shawn Yanchuk
Assisting both horse & rider.
Born and raised east of Edmonton Alberta, this cowboy was strangely without a horse growing up. But through hard work, passion, and maybe a little good old fashion stubbornness, Shawn did everything he could to get his first horse at 17, and this is where life really began.
Now with over 20 years of hands on experience, working with a multitude of horses, Shawn’s resume includes colt starting, rehabilitation, horse training, showing, competing, “problem horses”, individual lessons, clinics, and to top it all off has trained as an Equine Dentist.
Gaining inspiration from a few well known trainers around the world (such as Chris Cox & Clinton Anderson), Shawn has developed his own style of horsemanship that sets him apart from the rest.
He takes great pleasure in assisting through many different scenarios that are not discipline specific - working across every type of horse, discipline & event. Clients can expect to earn a connection with their horse that they never thought possible.
Horsemanship for Hope
Since 2017, Shawn has donated his time & skills to Horsemanship for Hope, an event produced Making Strides.
Making Strides is a program providing innovative mental-health programming to a marginalized population in Edmonton. It offers an opportunity for unconditional acceptance and experiential self-learning through the gentleness and wisdom of horses.
